Five Top Motivation Concepts for Weight Loss and Fitness Training

Most people who are keen to become fit or wish to lose weight do not grasp an important concept. Nearly all fitness training programs are carried out alone. For example, undertaking a fitness training program from a home base requires strong commitment. You are essentially on your own. If you are fortunate enough to possess sufficient “stickability” to stick with your fitness training program, great. If not, you should consider joining a gym or health club where you will enjoy the motivation of other people also working to enjoy a higher stand of physical fitness.

Unfortunately, numerous overweight would be fitness “wannabees” fall along the wayside due to that one problem…lack of motivation. Surveys indicate that at least 35% of overweight Americans will never become fit due to lack of sufficient motivation to stick with a fitness training program.
Overweight women and men usually wish to lose weight and possess a trim good looking body for many reasons. Those reasons may be related to poor health, physical condition and fitness. On the other side of the coin others wish to enhance their physique and appearance.

Major shifts in the way humans do things have evolved over the past 50 to 75 years. For example physical activity is now the exception rather than the rule. Not just on the home front, but also at work. A classic example that impacts on perhaps 90% of the population is that we now drive where others were forced to walk. Today we can simply flick a switch and one of our numerous machines carry out all the hard work such as hauling, lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy weights.

Another problem of the 21st century, health experts believe, is that people lose their way, especially when it comes to dieting. In our modern and materialistic world full of fast food diners, shops full of chocolates & with the vast amount of the population being very affluent we tend to go back to our bad old eating habits even after learning to enjoy the benefits of low-fat content foods.

However there are ways and means to eliminate that tendency toward weight gain. Yes you can stop it from happening if you have the right motivation. Without any doubt most of us know there are plenty of good reasons to avoid putting on those excess pounds. Those reasons go beyond staright forward human vanity and social appearance.

Top Tips For Motivating Yourself to Lose Weight

1. Write Down Your Goals and Visualise

Simply saying, “I want to lose some weight,” will get you no-where with such a simplistic, unconvincing statement. And of great importance is a written acknowledgement that YOU WRITE DOWN THAT YOU AGREE YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!

Establish precise written goals. Ensure you set a realistic goal, such as “I will lose 2 pounds in 14 days”. Visualise your appearance after reaching your desired weight goal. “Wow wont it be great to fit back into my favourite pair of jeans!” Precise and realistic goal setting will set the scene and will inspire you to lose that excess fat you lug around like that big sack of potatoes you see in the supermarket.

2. Strategy..Strategy…Strategy

Simply working on the basis of your own strength of will wont work! If you are deadly serious about losing weight your strategy must comprise a combination of both exercise and diet. One wont work without the other. I remember my doctor complaing to me about my own excess weight…and my response”but I go for a half hour bike ride daily”. The doctor’s response “Great..but without cutting back on your food intake you need to increase that bike ride to 12 hours a day just to break even”. Yes, that set me back on my heals. Exercise is vital. However if you exercise and still overeat you will stay fat!
One form of strong motivation is to throw away your bigger sloppy clothes. Keeping your sexy clothes will boost your motivation level to exercise and watch your food intake……If you dont you will be forced to go naked. Which would be your preference? Fit into your favourite, sexy clothes, or lose your motivation and not fit into the clothes you prefer?

3. Weight Loss Goals Must be Bite size

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! Establish goals you can see yourself achieving. Make sure those goals suit your lifestyle. You have to implement goals that you and you alone will benefit from. Dont let other people set goals for you that are unrealistic…like…. lose 12 pounds/kilos next week. Set goals you KNOW you can achieve.
4. Your Progress Must be Monitored
Ensure that you monitor your progress at least weekly. Maybe involve your hubby, wife, partner, or a friend in your program. Let them help to monitor your progress. Having somebody who will listen to your achievements is definitely better than trying to achieve your goal all on your lonesome.

5. Ensure Your Timetable is Realisitic
I am going to lose 20 pounds this month! In a pigs eye you will! Match your goals to your calendar. Dont expect unrealistic results overnight. If your timetable is realistic and you monitor steady progress you WILL reach and achieve your goal. How great that day will be for you!

Your bottom line is to retain motivation. Exercising and sticking to a diet entails a lot of hard work and a determined mind set. Establish written, realistic gaols in a realistic timeframe. Review your progress regularly and whatever you do, dont give up. Because this is hard…but you WILL achieve your goals by keeping motivated!

Always consult your Doctor or Health Expert prior to undertaking any diet or commencing any new fitness program.
