Ten Step Plan To Prevent Childhood Obesity

Without the slightest doubt, the dangerous health condition for overweight children referred to as “childhood obesity“, is practically totally preventable. The 21st century does not have to await the arrival of a wonder drug to solve the problem. We already know the causes. As a result we also know the answers to solving the problem of preventing childhood obesity.
Largely, childhood obesity, and being overweight, has escalated into a world wide health disaster due to the high incidence of children consuming heavily processed foods and fast foods because people reckon they dont have time to prepare home cooked meals. That problem coupled with the avalanche of non-active, sedentary entertainment, such as computer games and TV, are significantly behind the epidemic of childhood obesity. The epidemic began in the late 1980’s and was not evident to much extent in earlier decades.
If a youngster in your family is already overweight and on the way to being classified as “obese” then act now. Prevention is the key to beating childhood obesity and giving your kids a real chance at enjoying a healthy life.
Take action on the following ten steps before it’s too late:
1. Decide today to ensure ALL the family enjoy a regime of eating only healthy foods.
2. Prepare a meal plan for each day of the week, especially the evening meal.
3. Dont let your children buy food from the school tuckshop unless you know that food is healthy and nourishing.
4. In between meals provide healthy, tasty snacks such as fruit and yoghurt with a low fat content.
5. Dont include processed food in your shopping list such as potato chips, lollies, pies, sugary soft drinks, etc.
6. Do include in your shopping list quality fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, low fat desserts, etc.
7. Avoid taking your children to fast food outlets. No need to encourage your kids into a bad habit!
8. Ensure your children enjoy lots of outdoor play after school and on the weekend.
9. Ban any TV watching or computer game playing after school. The kids can enjoy an hour or so of TV & the internet after the evening meal.
10.Encourage your children to join sporting activities such as Little Athletics, the under 10 footie team, or the swimming team.
Act on each of the above ten steps and your kids will grow up healthy. Plus you will have assisted them to reduce the chances of contracting deadly diseases such as diabetes two, heart disease, etc; in later life.
