What are vitamins? Vitamins consist of organic chemicals. In fact vitamins are substances that contain carbon and hydrogen,as well as oxygen.
Vitamins happen naturally amongst all living matter. Vitamins exist in plants and animals. For example, you will find vitamins in trees, fruits, flowers, vegetables, beef on the hoof, chickens, fish and of course you and me…hopefully in the correct proportions to help us enjoy a vibrant, happy existence!
Our bodily functions are regulated by vitamins. Vitamins build skin, nerves, blood, bones and a ton of other essential tissues necessary for human survival. Vitamins are essential for the proper metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Food is where you derive your vitamins from, and that is where your energy sources originate from.
If you lack any of the essential vitamins, your body will suffer from nutritional deficiency diseases. Your body will not heal properly if injured, and you will suffer from ill health. If you doubt this, just recall the deadly disease of “scurvy”, that used to decimate the crews of sailing ships in the 19th century and earlier! It’s all about vitamins!
Little wonder the modern world is suffering from a multitude of illness and health problems as our food supplies fail to deliver the essential vitamins to sustain good health and well being. It is not difficult to understand why we require vitamin supplements in the early 21st century!
