Weight Loss Using the “Instead Of” Formula!

Putting on extra weight is far from difficult. I want to tell you about my recent experience in weight gathering and how I am tackling the problem of losing that extra weight.
Now, in the event you are reading this article because you are a little bit, or maybe a big bit overweight, I will tell you what I am doing to solve eliminating my excess kilos! None of this is easy. However I am sure you can also shed your kilos?
Back in March, 2008; my scales told me I had managed to put on 5 extra kilos since Christmas. When I visited my Doctor for a checkup he confirmed what my scales had already told me. Yes, I was indeed 5 kilos over my correct weight for my build, height and age.
I must say that I was disappointed at how these extra kilos had managed to sneak up on me in such a short time. I explained to my Doctor my surprise at the sneaky way these extra kilos had magically managed to attach themselves to my body…mainly around my tummy!
I told my Doctor that I did some regular bike riding 3 times a week. I enjoyed a healthy diet of non-fatty foods, including things like skinless chicken, fish and lots of steamed vegies most meals. With the occasional “fatty” BBQ plus a couple of very pleasant beers and a bottle or two of splendid chardonnay each week. I should add that my Wife helps me consume the Chardonnay…I dont drink the lot by myself.
My Doctor gave me a funny look. He then agreed that bike riding was a good thing. However, unless I reduced my intake of calories, I would have to ride my bike all day long, seven days a week, if I wished to make any inroads into shedding the five kilos! I must say that was disappointing news. We have all seen adverts on the TV about how healthy we can be by exercising just 30 minutes a day to be fit and healthy! Apparently I had mis-interpretted the message!
Okay, so I had it all wrong. You have to do the 30 minutes exercise a day…plus not eat too much yummy food; plus cut down on the good food as well! Now, not long after that bad news from my doctor I happened to have some friends visit for a few days.
One of these friends is a world champion in a very trying sport in the Master’s sports category. I was very impressed with the fact that this person, who is super fit, consumed as much food, beer and wine as myself on a good day. However, he was quick to tell me that back home he would consume maybe only half as much! Plus he would exercise several hours a day at his beloved sport! Damn….I was back in my doctor’s office, in my mind’s eye revisiting his
mild lecture.
The day after my visitors departed, I knew what I had to do in order to avoid a repeat dressing down from my friendly GP next visit. This is working wonders for me:
1. Instead of having two slices of toast for brekky, I have one.
2. Instead of a bowl full of healthy muesli I have half.
3. Instead of a tin of baked beans on two slices of toast for lunch
I have half a tin and one slice.
4. Instead of a large serving of fresh salad I have half.
5. Instead of a large portion of skinless chicken cooked in the
George Forman I have a half portion.
6. Instead of a large serving of steamed vegies I have half.
7. Instead of a full bowl of ice-cream every second night I have a
third.
8. Instead of margarine on my bread or toast I have none!
9. Instead of giving up my couple of beers and chardonnay…I am
joking…I still enjoy these delights!
And instead of three bike rides a week, I walk four kilometres every day. Guess what; the “Instead Formula” is working well for me. I have dropped a couple of kilos in a couple of weeks and it has not been difficult at all. You should note that other than dropping margarine from my diet nothing has changed other than reducing the amount of food I intake. Plus I have increased my exercise activity. And I am still enjoying a couple of beers and chardonnay with my Wife and friends.
Aint life grand!
Only three kilos to go and wow, will my Doctor be happy with me.
The “Instead Formula” is simple. Try it!
